Good news for travelers! Cebu Pacific is increasing its hand-carry baggage allowance from 7 KG to 10 KG for flights operated under the 5J flight code, effective September 15, 2026.
This update gives passengers a little more room to pack their travel essentials without immediately needing to purchase additional checked baggage. The updated policy applies to 5J flights departing September 15, 2026 onwards, regardless of when the booking was made.
What Can You Bring?
Under Cebu Pacific’s updated hand-carry policy, passengers can bring:
- 1 hand-carry bag for the overhead compartment
- 1 personal item to be placed under the seat
Hand-Carry Bag
Maximum dimensions: 56 × 36 × 23 cm
Personal Item
Maximum dimensions: 20 × 20 × 35 cm
The combined weight limit is up to 10 KG for Cebu Pacific 5J flights.
This means you can bring a cabin-size trolley, backpack, or similar hand-carry bag together with a qualifying personal item such as a small handbag or laptop bag, provided that the applicable size and combined weight limits are followed.
Flying with Cebgo? Take Note!
The 10 KG allowance does not apply to Cebgo flights.
If your flight number starts with DG, the hand-carry allowance remains at 7 KG. Cebu Pacific explains that Cebgo operates smaller aircraft with more limited cabin storage.
A simple way to remember it:
5J = 10 KG
DG = 7 KG
If your itinerary includes both a 5J and DG flight, the allowance applies per flight—10 KG for the 5J sector and 7 KG for the DG sector.
What About Existing Bookings?
Already booked before September 15?
Good news—the updated 10 KG allowance applies to eligible 5J flights departing September 15, 2026 onwards, even if the booking was made before the new policy took effect.
So if you booked your Cebu Pacific flight earlier, check your flight number and departure date to see which allowance applies.
Travel Tip: Don’t Just Watch the Weight
Even with the increased allowance, make sure your hand-carry bag meets the required dimensions. Cebu Pacific states that all sides of the bag must be within the prescribed measurements. If your bag exceeds the allowed size, additional charges may apply and it may need to be checked in.
It’s also important to remember that some items have separate restrictions. For example, liquids in hand carry must generally be in containers of 100 ml or less, while power banks and spare lithium batteries must be carried in hand baggage and follow applicable battery rules.
Before heading to the airport, remember to:
✔️ Check if your flight number starts with 5J or DG
✔️ Weigh your hand-carry before leaving home
✔️ Check your bag dimensions
✔️ Keep your personal item within the allowed size
✔️ Pack restricted items properly
✔️ Keep important travel documents accessible
